Beverage Artisan

The Beverage Artisan is Townstead’s drink career. It has three paths, Barista, Bartender, and Brewer, and each exists only when a mod supplies its workplace. With no drink mod installed, the career has no workplaces and nobody takes it up.

Each supported mod adds a workplace and the work done there. The Catalog lists the buildings and their requirements; in outline:

A villager is hired by the building, the same way a kitchen hires a cook. See Cooking & Baking. Which path they follow comes from the building: a café steers its worker toward Barista, a brew hall toward Bartender or Brewer.

Baristas brew coffee and tea at kettles, pots, and coffee stations, and roast beans where the mod has them. Bartenders mix drinks and cocktails. Brewers work kegs and brewing stations through the long processes: loading, watching, and drawing off the finished batch.

With a thirst mod installed, a Beverage Artisan also purifies water, at a campfire or skillet for Legendary Survival Overhaul’s canteens and bottles, or at Tough As Nails’ purifier. See Thirst.

Coffee restores energy when a villager drinks it. See Energy.

Bartenders and baristas are the staff at hangouts. At a tavern, the bartender serves the rounds. At a tea house, the barista serves the tea. A bartender or a cook serves supper. The worker must be assigned to that building.

An Order Sheet in the workplace lists everything its stations can make. Use it to keep a drink in stock or to fill a batch order before the evening rush.

The career has the same five ranks as Cook, and each path opens its own skills and title. Skills and ranks are on the career record at the Archives. See Careers.

The Chronicle records a village’s first brew.

The worker says which of these is the problem when you are nearby: no ingredients, a particular ingredient missing, nowhere to put the output, no workplace, or a station they cannot reach.
